Your gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal helps to ensure the continuation of our evangelization and catechesis programs. Among many other vital needs, funds from the Appeal also help to form our seminarians, assist couples preparing for marriage, and provide basic necessities and counseling services for the poor and vulnerable.
The Bishop’s Annual Appeal is a way to combine our resources to accomplish great things. Each person of our Diocese is invited to set out with a spirit of hope and expectation to Help Build a Civilization of Love. Together, we turn with renewed confidence and outstretched arms to Our Virgin Mother of Guadalupe to set our hearts on fire as we prepare to be consecrated to her maternal care.
Thank you for your generosity.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
One of the cherished hallmarks of being a Christian is that we always have hope. Hope is our gift from God that proclaims there is never a situation so desperate that we would have to resort to an evil means to find a solution. This is especially true in promoting the sacredness of every human life, even when there is serious illness and suffering. In hope we can see suffering as a sign of God’s presence and love. This is why it deeply saddens me to have to write to address the reality that has taken a step into the darkness of despair by accepting as law physician-assisted suicide.
